From a land far, far away...

Hi All!
We have endured our 19 hour flight (Which actually wasn't that bad! - Except for the 4 meals of chicken and rice, we are now trying to avoid that like the black plague.)
We are now in Kuala Lumpur - The drive from the airport is about 1hour.. You pass beautiful rows and rows of palm trees, its really something. Things here are certainly different. Upon reaching the airport I wandered into the washroom and found the dreaded squat toilets (toilets that are basically a porcelain hole in the ground.)
Needless to say we tried a couple bathrooms before finding one with a conventional toilet.
When we went to the restaurant at the hotel you could not really tell what anything was - Soooo... Jason and I ordered the spaghetti carbonara (figured that was safe, and it was very good) Chris was brave and tried the beef burger (It was pink and came with a fried egg on it... Chris went hungry)
Kirby decided for fish and chips and was not expecting the flavor and texture he got.
Bob got a soup that looked like everything in the kitchen was thrown into it.. Bob also went hungry.
Sarah advised the waiter she was a vegetarian of which he pointed to something on the menu, she ordered it - Bad choice!!
It came out to be fried rice with squid and salt fish in it, with a large fried egg on top and some fish on crackers for the side... Sarah also went hungry.
Lucky for them the restaurant was dead and instead of food they offered them several jugs of beer for free.. Needless to say it has taken Sarah several hours to recover today!
We are experiencing so many things and were homesick lastnight for the first time - But we are starting to warm up to it!
