Reached Rotorua

We have travelled our way for 3 hours down the New Zealand countryside and reached a lovely lake area called Rotorua (The town reminds me opf Melville, Sask just on a larger scale) We have rented a 3 bedroom home here that is on Lake Rotorua and are settling in quite comfortably. It even comes complete with a kitchen so we can cook our life away (Which is something you take for granted when you have one)
Our bed rooms, living room and dinning room all look down onto the lake. The drive down was spectacular as the highways look over rolling green hills and even have some parts where the trees have grown across the highway and meet in the middle to creat and tunnel of trees. The roads here have very little people on it and it is such a wonderful drive. Tomorrow we will be checking out some of the sites here in Rotorua, they have natural sulpher hot springs and bubbling mud pools (Including a huge natural hot spring in the middle of town) There are also waterfall hot springs to be seen. The New Zealanders (AKA Kiwis) love their extreme sports so much so that everything there is to see always has a hint of danger - for example; There is a tower in Auckland much like the Calgary tower.. Its not enough to take an elevator to the top but you can also climb the inside or bungy jump off, or purhaps the zoo where it is not enough to look at the animals, you call also interact with them including lion feeding.. Not dangerous enough?? How about Zorbing, basically they throw you in a giant hampster ball and roll you down a hill, there is white water rafting - all rafting here is done on class 5 rapids (They do not do anything higher then class 4 rapids in Calgary for fear of customers dying)and if those rapids dont kill you, you can always go on the water raft that include a drop from a 30ft waterfall at the end.. If the boat is too safe and comfortable to you why not just Sludge which is throwing on flippers and jumping on a boogie board and going down the same class 5 rapids. I think we should be safe doing the mud pools and sulpher springs however they probably throw in a hungery crocadile "just for fun."
We will be here in Rotorua for the next 11 days, then we will slowly make our way back up to Auckland for Christmas.
