We finished up our time in Paihia and decided to head North and check out 90 mile beach, we drove 1 1/2 hours to our destination and relaized it is a small dingy town with ucky beaches so we decided.. Hey.. Why not head back down to Raglan since it is such a nice hostel down there (Compared to our last one where Sarah and I opted not to shower as it was so disgusting in the bathrooms) So we back tracked the hour and a half and after a good 12 hour drive we arrived in Raglan at 10:00pm... We called ahead and the helpful people here were able to move people around and got us our own dorm - We stayed in private rooms lasttime and assumed the dorms were like all the others we have stayed in on the way which are about 200sq ft with 6 beds - but we were very wrong. They took us to the back of the hostel where there is a second kitchen and living room then up the stairs where there is a bathroom and only 2 dorm rooms. We entered the room and found a huge vaulted ceiling room that was about 600sq ft with the beds spaced far, far apart.. (In our last place Kirby got down from the top bunk by stepping on the stairs from the bunk beds right next to us (They are that close together)) They also were able to juggle people so that we had the room for the full 3 days we will be staying here.
We booked out the surf boards (and boogie boards) for the day and headed to the beach.. The rips in the waves were very strong so I found it difficult to board so Bob, Sarah and I spent the better part of the day on the beach which was sunny for a nice change. Chris, Jay, Kirb and I stayed for about 5 hrs then came in for a much needed shower and some relaxation.
I imagine we will be golfing tomorrow and Kirby will likely try to ride a sheep.
