Well would you believe that not only is Raglan not looking for staff but it turns out that go figure this weekend is a long weekend and they are booked solid so they dont even have a room! So we decided that that was it, NZ is not the place for us.. We just cant cant anything working .. Soo.. We drove 13 hours from Dunedin to Picton the other night, arrived there at 1:30am as all hotel/motel reception was closed we had to sleep in the car. We took the mid afternoon ferry at 1:15 to the North island and arrived in Wellington at 4:30. After fighting our way through the Friday long weekend rush hour and exitous from the city we finally got really going at about 6:00pm. We were thinking about the car auction where Bob and Sarah bought their car, where on Saturdays you pay $20 to put your car in the market and by the end of the day almost all vehicles were gone so we decided that since lastnight was Friday we would atempt to make it to Auckland for todays car market. We drove all through the night and spent random time cleaning the car as we would not have time to do it today (We cleaned the inside while waiting for the ferry, we stopped in Hamilton at 2:00am to vaccuum the inside and we got up at 5:30am to wash the outside) We rolled into Auckland at 3:30 and as per above slept in the car for 2 hours then back up so we could get the the auction and have our car registered by the 8:00am start - After we had got the car all spiffy we drove to the sight where the carmarket was held and to our disappointment discovered it has shut down! Well there was a goodnights sleep wasted! We decided to book into this other market, its $65 for 3 days and it runs 9-5. We spent a long day tired and bored sitting in a warehouse and at 3:00pm after no potential buyers had come through the door since 1:00pm we decided to call it a day and get some much needed sleep. We have 2 more days in the car market.. We are hoping it sells soon as the accomodations here are $67 for a room which is pricey.
Once we get this beast up and sold we decided that since we are not ready to come home yet but cant afford to stay here we will be heading back to Thailand for an undetermined amount of days - We are really looking forward to the change in scenery and may even be able to do an off shoot venture of Vietnam or Borneo... You never know with the way our plans go!
So we hope to be in Thailand by the end of next week..

Whatever you both decide to do, you always know you have the 100% support of your fans in Canada!
But try fruit picking in Keri-keri. 20 minute drive from Paihia, and it will give you the true backpacker experience.
Regardless of what you decide your next adventure is going to be, you have a lot of people standing by and supporting your every move!

Forgot to add this (sorry still mourning the 2-0 shut out against Chicago, and my mind is wandering thinking I might be the next NHL goalie once I learn how to skate!) ((I guess the next catch phrase will be, "Shirts off for Adolph!!")) Anyhow. if you end up in Keri keri fruit picking that is the true backpacker vacation. You will associate with a bunch of other surfers, learning to surf-ers and people that just want to be their to enjoy what NZ has to offer. If you decide to do this I would suggest a lot of sunscreen, and an open mind!
Once again it really doesn't matter as you have the support of hundreds.
